The Bahamas Football Association
About the BFA
Football was first introduced in the Bahamas just after World War I when returning veterans continued to practice and play friendly games with each other in the sport that they came to know and love while serving in Europe. In 1957 the first all-star team representing the Bahamas travelled to Miami to play in a friendly international. In 1967 the Bahamas Football Association was officially formed and application to join the membership of FIFA was accepted in 1968. Today, the BFA has national teams in categories for male (U-15, U-17, U-20, U-23 and Senior) and female (U-15, U-17, U-20 and Senior) and a host of national and development programmes. The BFA also has a National Football Development Centre located in the Baillou Hill Sporting Complex in Nassau containing one artificial-turf field with floodlights, one natural grass field, and changing rooms for teams and referees.
